چکیده

The patient was an 8-year-old boy with no significant medical history. He reported that, for the last year, he was having weekly episodes of intense pain in right lower limb that lasted at least an hour. The pain was located in anterior aspect of his thigh and gluteal region, and limited his mobility. He had no fever or constitutional symptoms. The clinical signs and symptoms remitted with rest and the usual analgesics. Physical examination confirmed that the child was obese (body mass index = 24; >97th percentile). There was no evidence of inflammation, limitation of mobility or neurological deficits. Complete blood count, laboratory tests and acute-phase reactants were normal. An anteroposterior radiograph of the pelvis (Fig. 1) revealed enlargement of right-sided IPS, with small irregularities of pseudotumoral aspect. Magnetic resolution produced (Fig. 2) an

Lysosomal integral membrane protein 2 is a novel component of the cardiac intercalated disc and vital for load-induced cardiac myocyte hypertrophy

The intercalated disc (ID) of cardiac myocytes is emerging as a crucial structure in the heart. Loss of ID proteins like N-cadherin causes lethal cardiac abnormalities, and mutations in ID proteins cause human cardiomyopathy. A comprehensive screen for novel mechanisms in failing hearts demonstrated that expression of the lysosomal integral membrane protein 2 (LIMP-2) is increased in cardiac hy...

LIMP-2 Is a Receptor for Lysosomal Mannose-6-Phosphate-Independent Targeting of β-Glucocerebrosidase

beta-glucocerebrosidase, the enzyme defective in Gaucher disease, is targeted to the lysosome independently of the mannose-6-phosphate receptor. Affinity-chromatography experiments revealed that the lysosomal integral membrane protein LIMP-2 is a specific binding partner of beta-glucocerebrosidase. This interaction involves a coiled-coil domain within the lumenal domain. beta-glucocerebrosidase...

Long-term follow-up of children with femoral neck fractures.

Of 92 children reviewed three to five years after treatment for fractured neck of femur (Lam 1976), we have been able to reassess 41, both clinically and radiographically, at 13 to 23 years after injury. The earlier clinical results had been excellent, despite a high incidence of complications; but the new, later review shows an 83% incidence of radiographic abnormality while 24% of the patient...
